A team of doctors from the Third State Central Hospital, the National Centre for Maternal and Child Health of Mongolia and the Sondra Eye Hospital has performed eye lens transplant surgery on an eight-year-old boy. The operation was held at the First Central Hospital of Mongolia on 16th of May. After surgery the boy’s vision was restored and stabilised.

The boy was injured in a head-on crash in October, 2016 causing a cataract which is a clouding of the lens inside the eye, causing loss of vision.
