Parliament journalists addressed the President to put veto on the new law passed by Parliament. The Parliament passed a law about Parliament procedures last week that was realized on January 1st, shutting doors to journalists for Standing Committee meetings.
In the scope of the protest on Parliament’s decision, media agencies decided to publish the newspapers with an empty political page – an action that has been taken in Europe previously for strangling press freedom. It was written in the center of the blank page center “You will read such newspapers if the media freedom is violated”
Initiator of the law Ch.Saikhanbileg explained the regulation was not meant to hide information from the people. According to him, its goal is to stop MPs “acting” in order to be affected by the people in presence of reporters instead of discussing law drafts.
