The annual Innovation 2010 exhibition opened at the hall of
the Union of Mongolian Artists (UMA) on December 29 with 160 new paintings,
sculptures, and installations on show until January 7. Before this UMA had
arranged for 50 exhibitions in the course of the year featuring works of both
Mongolian and foreign artists. Altogether visitors saw some 4,000 works by 1,500
artists.

Among the more notable works of the year are the painting “Summer
at the White Stupa” by D.Badam; a leather work “Balance” by young artist
T.Battulga; and a bronze sculpture “Gravity” by O.Ochirbat. All three won prizes
at the exhibition Autumn-2010. A sculpture “Ermeg” by young artist
B.Bayarsaikhan won the best prize at the exhibition Altan Biir-2010.  “Mountain’s flood” by D.Battumur; “Hero” by T.Naidandorj
and “Blue Mongolia” by L.Amarsanaa won awards at the exhibition Literacy-2010.

Mongolian artists have participated in festivals and
exhibitions abroad also, and young artists D.Ganbaatar, D.Erdenebat and
Kh.Batbaatar have won gold medals and other awards there. Respectable art
galleries and museums in the USA and Hong Kong have expressed interest in works
by Mongolian artists.
