The train transporting Mongolian coal to
the Russian port of Vostochnii has completed its trial run successfully. It
took four days to reach the port from the border point without hitch.
Infrastructure Development, the company which organized the transportation,
carefully monitored the progress of the freight and has said the cost of
carrying coal along this route will not be any more than exporting it from a
port in China. The saving in time and cost because tracks in Mongolia and
Russia have the same gauge, obviating the need to change the wheels of every
single wagon if the Chinese railway were to be used, will be enormous when a
consignment will consist of up to 8000 tons of coal, it said.
