The 4th consultative meeting between Government and
private sector representatives from Mongolia and Japan wa held yesterday in Ulaanbaatar.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade B.Bolor led the 50-member Mongolian
team that included representatives from the Ministries of Foreign
Affairs; Mineral Resources and Energy; Road, Transportation and Urban Planning;
Food, Agriculture and Light Industry; the National Development and Innovation
Committee, the Mongol Bank and 30 privately invested companies and economic
entities. Japanese Deputy Minister of Economics, Trade and Industry T.Matsushta
led his country’s similarly constituted team of 50.
Bolor opened the meeting, noting how
bilateral cooperation was being intensified in preparation for the signing of
an economic partnership agreement. The delegates exchanged views on areas of likely
cooperation in trade, investment and mineral resources and the difficulties
faced by businessmen. The next regular meeting will be held in Tokyo in 2011.
The Japanese delegates later called on President Ts.Elbegdorj, Minister of
Foreign Affairs and Trade G.Zandanshatar and Minister of Mineral Resources and
Energy D.Zorigt. These meetings have been held alternately in the two countries
since the consultative joint committee was set up in 2006 to implement a 10-year
program of basic cooperation to extend bilateral trade and investment.
