Speaker D.Demberel and the Parliamentary
team he is leading to India last week called on the Speaker of the Lower
Chamber of India’s Parliament, Mrs. Meira Kumar, who was in Mongolia some
months ago, writes B.Khanddolgor who is with the team. Demberel presented the
Mongolian state law Ikh Zasag in the Mongol khudan script and a whip as a gift
to Mrs. Kumar and noted that Mongolians still study the Ikh Zasag law.
In all their talks and meetings so far, the emphasis has been on the growing
relationship between the two countries, which received an impetus from
President Ts.Elbegdorj’s state visit to India. The Indian side is appreciative
of Mongolia’s support for its seat in the UN Security Council and the Mongolian
side remembers India’s pioneering support for Mongolia’s membership in the UN.
Both sides are looking for an expansion of trade
ties, and in the peaceful use of nuclear energy. Among the sectors identified
are mining, agriculture, defense, education, pharmaceuricals, and human
resources development.
