The
National Development and Innovation Committee recently reviewed what the
Standards and Measures Office has done so far to implement the Government’s
plans for business environment reform in 2010. There are 5,500 national
standards in Mongolia at present, half the number in 1995. Of these 45% are
compulsory and the rest optional.

The  office has revised many standards, and
has recommended that 78 international standards be introduced in Mongolia. Some
70% of the standards have been reviewed under international specification. The
office has served 1,634 citizens and 5,100 economic entities in the present year
and found businessmen receptive to revisionof standards. The office has also permitted
14 organizations to adopt seven standards not in the books in Mongolia but
followed abroad.
