DP to hold special assembly before next NCC election

The National Consultative Committee (NCC) of the DP
recently rejected by 85% majority a demand from
some young members for a special assembly, but the party’s
Secretary-General, D.Erdenebat, yesterday signed an agreement with the
Coordinator of the “Special Assembly movement”, T.Khasbaatar. Erdenebat said
there are differences in the party about its policy direction and ideology and
it is a sign of the party’s health that younger members state their position
and criticize the accepted policy.

The agreement provides for the following.

1. The DP management has accepted the demand of the
“Special Assembly movement” and will hold an assembly before the 2012 election
to the NCC that would discuss and adopt the complete program “Mongol person-2020”,
presented in the 32nd meeting of the NCC.

2. The movement’s views on amendments to the
Constitution relating to Parliament, the Government and local management would
be conveyed by the Executive Council to the DP group in Parliament.

Khasbaatar said after the agreement, “The rank and file in the DP are confident
that the party will positively react to emerging issues of social and political
importance. We want a new political culture to develop not only in the DP but
also in the country as a whole.”
