The Government has
given its approval in principle to a draft agreement between Mongolia and China
to send convicted prisoners to their home countries and left it to the related
Standing Committees to work out the details. The proposal was first mooted in 2005
and there has been unofficial agreement to bring back two Mongolian prisoners from China and send home one Chinese prisoner
here.
The Government thinks that a review of cases of Mongolians sentenced under
Chinese law would be helpful and serving a prison term in the home country is
more humane.
