The Center of Wildlife Research and Protection has published an encyclopedia of Mongolin birds  with the aim of involving citizens in bird protection, raising awareness and increasing knowledge of birds and popularizing the hobby of bird watching. The encyclopedia lists  160 species of  birds, both rare and common.

The book also gives guidelines on bird warching, lists and explains environment protection rules and laws, and gives brief information on foreign organizations that observe and protect birds. And of course there is a whole lot of information on birds and their habits.

N.Tseveenmyadag, Director of Birds Research Laboratory of Scientific Academy,  B.Nyambayar of the Center of Wildlife Research and Protection, and  Ts.Munkhzul, a biologist, have collaborated in writing the book and the illustrations are by the distinguished Japanese artist, Takashi Taniguchi. The illustrations are a special attraction.

The Asian Chapter of Bird Life International and the Wild Bird Association of Japan helped in the work on the encyclopedia and the Keidanren Fund sponsored the publication. All money from its sales would be spent on study of rare birds in Mongolia, raising awareness of the need for bird protection and financong bird watching clubs.
