Byambatsogt has urged the Government to “show its iron face” and make it clear
to “arrogant mining investors” that their interests will not dictate State
policy. He was expressing his support for Speaker D. Demberel who had referred
to foreign invested companies disregarding Mongolian laws and resolutions and
even clashing with civil society organizations which protested against their
conduct.

Byambatsogt felt the Government should take action against “some foreign
invested companies” which seem to say, “We will continue with our mining
because this law banning mining near rivers and forests cannot be enforced and
will also get it changed because we don’t like it.” 

The MP was
critical of the policy to distribute more money to people. This merely “supports
laziness”, he said.
