President
Ts.Elbegdorj has told Ulaanbaatar Mayor G.Munkhbayar and J.Saruulbuyan, Director
of the National Museum, that utmost care should be taken while repairing the
statue of D.Sukhbaatar, which stands in the square bearing his name but has now
been removed. He has reminded those responsible for the present repairs that the
statue, along with the motifs around it, has been a national emblem ever since
it was put up in 1946 to mark the 25th anniversary of the People’s Revolution.  The sculptor S.Choimbol was awarded the State
prize and some of those involved in the work are still alive.
