President
Ts.Elbegdorj arrived in Denmark from Sweden on October 7. Queen Margrethe II
hosted a banquet for him the next day in Amalienborg Palace, Copenhagen. Among
those present were Crown Prince Frederik, Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen, Parliament
Speaker Thor Pedersen, and other Danish dignitaries, and Foreign Minister
G.Zandanshatar, Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry T.Badamjunai,
and MPs L.Gundalai, E.Monkh-Ochir, S.Byambatsogt, and B.Enkhmandak.
The Crown Prince visited Mongolia in 2008 on the occasion of the 40th
anniversary of Mongolia-Denmark diplomatic relations and has also been involved
in making a documentary film on Mongolian life.
Elbegdporj also separately received Speaker
Pedersen and Prime Minister Rasmussen to share views on the state of
Mongolia-Denmark relations and to explore how these could be expanded. Among
areas identified for strengthening ties were education, culture and science,
exchange of students and youths, environmental protection in mining, use of
clean technology, improving the skills of troops participating in peacekeeping
operations, agriculture, and processing meat and milk.
The President also visited the Confederation of Danish Industries and then
attended the opening of a Mongolia-Denmark Business Meeting, where he spoke on the
investment environment in Mongolia. “Our tax policy is attracting the attention
of European countries,” he added.
