President Ts.Elbegdorj has told the Prime Minister of
Finland, Mrs. Mari Kiviniemi, that Mongolia wants to use the latest
technologies from countries like Finland as it implements big projects in
mining, infrastructure and railways. He also said the goal of the government
was to equitably distribute among the people the revenues from mineral
resources. The President also stressed the desire of Mongolia to boost mutually
beneficial collaboration with developed countries like Finland so that its
competence and competitiveness can be improved.

Elbegdorj said Mongolia can be a reliable partner of
Finland in Asia, and invited Finland to attend next year’s Khaan Quest, the
annual international peacekeeping military exercise, as an observer.

Elbegdorj’s visit to Finland began on Wednesday, with a welcome
ceremony in the Presidential Palace. At their talks later, the Finnish
President, Mrs. Tarja Halonen, said Mongolia is a good example of commitment to
democratic ideals. In his reply, the Mongolian President referred to Finland’s
proud record of human and democratic rights and freedoms. Mrs. Halonen
congratulated the Mongolian President on his moratorium on capital punishment.
