The Secretary-General of the MPRP, U.Khurelsukh, and a member
of the MPRP Managing Council, U.Barsbold, have said that 1,605 of the
party’s1,626 primary organizations have
met and elected their delegates to the General Assembly to be held in
Ulaanbaatar on November 5. The remaining 21 could not meet because most of
their members were busy with the harvest. The party rules allow them to meet
within three days.
The meetings also polled members’ views on
changing the name and ideology of the party. The results show 81.3% support the
move to call the party by its original name of MPP; 10.7% leave the decision to
the assembly, and 8% do not supported any change in the present name change. The
move to change the ideology has the support of 92% members, with 2.4% against
it, and the rest undecided.
More than 800 delegates will attend the Assembly and decide on the proposed
changes.
