The DP group in Parliament yesterday discussed three
issues, including a draft project on labor prepared by the Ministry of Social
Welfare and Labor. The MPs want more information on the possible causes of
unemployment and on salaries usually paid in various jobs. The group was also
against lumping three big aspects into one law, and wanted separate coverage
for the registration of labor, reduction of unemployment, and an overall labor
policy.

The DP group also wants the Ministry to clarify why unemployment
figures presented to Parliament are once 3.4% and on another occasion 5%, and
why both should be different from the National Statistics Office figure of
9.5%. The MPs want accurate data when they discuss the state budget and
monetary policy. They also want more information on unemployment among those over
45.

The meeting set up
a working group comprising MPs E.Bat-Uul, Z.Enkhbold, L.Gantomor and
P.Altangerel to study wages and unemployment before preparing a draft strategy
to reduce unemployment.
