Minister of Food,
Agriculture and Light Industry T.Badamjunai led the Mongolian team at the 30th
session of the FAO Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific (APRC) and at
the Regional Agricultural Ministerial Meeting. Both meetings were held from
September 27 to October 1 in Gyeongju in South Korea.
Participants at the regional conference included some 300 representatives from
28 countries and from international NGOs of 12 countries and UN organizations.
They discussed food security, the effects of climate change on global
agriculture, and securing more investment in agriculture.
At a meeting with Jacques Diouf, the FAO Director-General, Badamjunai
detailed the government’s programs such as Attar III, the National livestock
program, and the one on SMEs. He gave thanks for the assistance and support
received from the FAO, and stressed Mongolia’s determination to meet the Millennium
Developmental Goals (MDGs).
