Minister of Health S.Lambaa answers questions on how the
government plans to pay for medical expenses.

What new system has
the Ministry decided to adopt?

The government has allocated MNT10.3 billion to the Ministry
to cover health costs. There are about 400,000 Mongolians outside health
insurance. The MNT9.8 billion they will receive from the Human Development Fund
will be transferred to cost of apartment, health insurance, social insurance,
and other types of service. The money to be given to the Ministry of Health
will be used to provide total health insurance to all. MNT200,000 will be the
cost of health insurance for everybody.

Is there any change
in the health service?

We have changed the health insurance fees from November
1.  These will cover not just the cost of
hospital beds, but will be extended to hospital stay, treatment at home,
diagnostic tests, and such. MNT 30 million will be spent on this. We also hope
to cover recuperation and nursing costs with health insurance.
