Participants at the Ulaanbaatar-2010 labor conference yesterday
expressed surprise that while the National Statistics Office puts unemployment
at 11.2%, the figures from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor says it is
only 4%. The conference was organized by the Labor Office and among those
present were representatives of the Ministry, trade unions, and the employers’
federation. They deplored such discrepancy in official data and called for
better employer-employee relations.

The conference was the first preparatory step to a national
labor conference planned in the near future.
