Conference planned in March to make people’s voice heard

The National New
Party (NNP) and the People’s Union (PU) will jointly hold a general conference
on March 1, 2011, NNP leader Ts.Tsolmon and PU General Coordinator G.Uyanga told
a press conference yesterday. Delegates will be elected from Ulaanbaatar
districts and from soums in all aimags. The goal of the conference is to make
the voice of the people heard by those in power.

Tsolmon said the goals of the national revolution that began 20 years ago have
not been met. Instead, half the people remain poor and only some, including
state high officials, have become affluent. Their money has come from their
misuse of power, and betrayal of people’s interests. Political parties talk
about these things but do little to change the situation. The planned conference
will demand a change in the political structure to make it more responsive to
people’s needs and aware of human rights.

Uyanga said that the PU was established last November on the demand that
Government leaders should fulfill the promises made to people.
