Speaking at a ceremony yesterday at the Mongolia-Korea
Technical Institute to mark the start of the academic year, Prime Minister
S.Batbold said the country needs a large number of trained workers to fill the
jobs that will come up with the expansion of the mining sector.  Some 45,000 young people will be enrolled in
vocational training centers, and 3,300 more will attend training programs
arranged by  Oyutolgoi LLC, which will
spend  MNT36 billion on the program, of
which MNT 23 billion will go to the trainees’ stipend and food, and MNT13 billion
to equipment and teachers’ training.

This training began yesterday with 1,000 trainees chosen
from those registered in labor exchanges, half coming from urbal area and half
from the countryside. The next course, starting on January 1, 2011 will enroll
the remaining 2,300 trainees. More than 40.000 mining jobs will be created in the
next 5 years. This should see an end to young Mongolians going abroad for work.

Batbold
went around the institute, which has enrolled 500 students in its 2010-2011
academic year.  It has an arrangement
with Wagner-Asia and Oyutolgoi LLC to provide practical training to its
students.
