U.Khurelsukh answers questions on what happened at the meeting of the party’s
Administrative Board on Monday.

What
were the main issues discussed?

The meeting decided to hold
the party’s 12^th conference on September 7. This conference will
then set the date for the party’s 26^th general meeting, fix the
number of attendees, and decide how they are to be selected. We hope to hold
the general meeting by the end of this year. It will discuss the new strategy
and directions for national development. This has become necessary as 20 years
have passed since the democratic revolution and Mongolia has changed greatly in
this period of time. The MPRP has been in power for 16 of these 20 years. The
26^th general meeting will take stock of our achievements and
mistakes and define new development goals.

Did
you discuss the issue of dismissing the governors of Dundgobi and Gobi-Altai?

The governors have decided
to resign, the Dungobi governor on health grounds. His successor will be named
this week. In the case of Gobi-Altai, the choice will be from between
Amgalanbaatar and Alzakhgui. The party’s provincial party will make its choice
by September 14.

The
Songinokhairkhan district governor had to be removed for using fake diplomas.
Why are such cases occurring in MPRP?

The present resignations
were on health grounds. Such requests have to be conceded.

Were  they so ill that they had to resign, or did
they want to avoid being dismissed?

The interest of the country
is paramount. A party’s internal problems cannot be allowed to affect the
larger society. The MPRP understands that the nation’s interest, the people’s
interest come before the party’s interest. This is our strength and shows there
is nothing wrong with our party.
