On 15th January, the State Registration and Statistical Authority provided economic data for 2015.

Despite the fact that a lot of negative information about economic crisis spread last year, there was one bright aspect:  Inflation was fixed at 1.9% as of December 2015, representing a 0.2% reduction on the previous month and an increase of 1.9% on January 2015. The State Registration and Statistical Authority noted: “The reduction of meat and meat products was the main factor effecting inflation”. The 2015 inflation rate is a huge contrast to the 11% rate in 2013 and 12.3% rate in 2014.

Regarding trade statistics – Mongolia traded with 147 countries in 2015, this representing a foreign trade turnover of USD 8,466.6 million – export being USD 4669.5 million and imports being USD 3797.2 million. These numbers indicate that exports and imports amount have fallen by 19.1%-27.5%. The export of coal, petroleum, iron ore, and copper are central to determing the export amount.  Imports are dominated by fuel and cars.
