The winter cold in Mongolia currently shows no sign of abating. January 16^th-23^rd are expected to be particularly cold with the temperatures falling further to -40 degrees centigrade at night and -30 during the day.

The Mongolian National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is warning people to be prepared for the severe cold weather. NEMA advises people to go outside no more than in absolutely necessary, to ensure that there are supplies of coal and fuel and electic generators are in working order and to wear warm clothes to prevent freezing.
