Mongolia’s capital, Ulaanbaatar, has been growing rapidly in recent years. In addition, the issue of the “ger districts” has not been solved; over half the population of UB live in poor accommodation. Health problems remain a major concern, with 50%-54% of the total diseases in Mongolia being registered in the capital; every year there are outbreaks of 18-20 different kinds of infectious disease. The spread of Hepatitis-A virus, dysentery, food poisoning and tuberculosis – which represent 40% of the all infectious diseases – show no sign of declining in UB.
Therefore, the Government approved the “Urbanization and Health” program during the meeting, which was held on 4th January.
