Parliament has decided to confirm the provision of the MNT 20,000 child allowance to the 823,000 children, who come from living-standard categories 1st -17th. Those from higher income families, namely categories 18 to 20 will no longer receive the allowance; this effects approximately 100,000 children and represents MNT 144 billion.
Yesterday, Mongolian President Ts.Elbegdorj, Parliamentary Speaker Z.Enkhbold and Prime Minister Ch.Saikhanbileg discussed the issue. Following the meeting, the President tweeted: “We have agreed to provide the MNT 20,000 child allowance as previoulsy”. The President also wrote: “We will continue to work in along these lines on this issue. MNT 20,000 per child is Mongolian policy, which aims to ensure many healthy young Mongolians”.
