The World Chess
Federation (FIDE) has decided to build a Chess Palace at Yarmag in west
Ulaanbaatar. The news was revealed at yesterday’s formal ceremony at Sukhbaatar
Square to inaugurate the fifth leg of the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix that begins
today and will finish on August 12. The
ceremony was attended by the head of the organizing committee, Culture,
Education and Science Minister Yo.Otgonbayar, and the President of the Khalimag
Republic of Russia.
Participants at
the tournament include 12 of the world’s 16 top players. They are Grandmaster
Xu Yuhua of China, Maia Chiburdanidze of Georgia, Grandmaster Koneru Humpy of
India, Zhu Chen of Qatar, Tatiana Kosintseva of Russia, Hou Yifan, Zhao Xue and
Shen Yang of China, Syu Yuhua of China, Sebag Marie of France, Yildiz Betul of
Turkey, Antuanetta Stefanova of Bulgaria and B.Munguntuul of Mongolia.
the competition amount to 40,000 euro, with the winner getting 6500 euro.
