Prime Minister S.Batbold, answered media questions at
Khuvsgul on his visit to Arkhangai, Uvurkhangai and Khuvsgul aimags.

How
did you find the situation in the three aimags?

My plan in this trip was to detail and explain the
Government’s policies, programs, and activities. I also wanted to get feedback
from citizens on our work. I was happy to see that people in Arkhangai and
Khuvsgul have taken the initiative on several programs without waiting for us,
taking the responsibility for regional development into their own hands. For
example, a Local Development Forum has been set up by the joint efforts of the
local commission of Arkhangai and the people of Arkhangai. Suggestions and
initiatives should come from both sides. Roads are essential to development and
when a local demand was placed we agreed to build oner from Terkh Lake of
Arkhangai to Khuvgsul Lake. This will be good for tourism. However, development
should not come at the cost of our environment.

What have you decided on the phosphorus
deposit in Burenkhaan?

We still have not done the
final evaluation of the environmental aspects of utilizing this strategic
deposit. But one thing is certain. If the decision is to start mining, the
State will retain ownership of the deposit.
