Today, the Parliament discussed the Presidential veto on “Conclusion 14th of the Constitutional Court”. During the vote, the veto has accepted with 49% of the MP’s in favour. Some members asked the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, R.Gonchigdorj, why the veto had been accepted, when only 49% of Parliament had voted for it?
In reply, Mr. R.Gonchigdorj said: “33.3% votes are sufficient if a veto has already been accepted by the Standing Justice Committee. Therefore, Parliament has accepted the Presidential veto”.
Following this, a vote to approve the veto was held, as a result of which, the Parliamentary resolution was approved with 52.9% votes.
