Today, the official opening ceremony of the “Amgalan Heating Station” took place. In the opening ceremony, the Speaker of the Parliament Z.Enkhbold, Minister of Energy D.Zorigt and the heads of the Ulaanbaatar City Administration participated. The new station, which is located to the east of UB, has three, 116 megawat capacity ovens. It is the first Mongolian station which has separate heat and electricity production.
The “Amgalan Heating Station” was built under a concession contract between the Mongolian Government and the “China Machinery Engineering Corporation”. Construction started in August 2013 and was completed in April 2015. The “Amgalan Heating Station” has been generating heat under trial conditions since October 2015, when the winter heating season starts – from today the “Amgalan Station” is officially part of the capital’s heating network.
