According to a report on the commercial banks for the first nine months of 2015, the total amount of the unqualified loans reached MNT 696.6 billion. Except for the banks which have been closed (“Anod Bank”, “Zoos Bank”, and “Hadgalamj Bank”), the remaining amount of unqualified loans equals MNT 596.6 billion, which is 70% up on the previous year. The Bank of Mongolia has noted that: “The loans provided in the mining, processing and producing sectors, have high risks to become unqualified”. During the first half of 2015, a total of 13.4% of all mining loans were unqualified; subsequently 19.6% have been categorized as overdue loans.
