The Bank of Mongolia is ready to present the monetary policy guidelines for 2016 to Parliament. These included the plan to keep inflation at 7% in the next year. This year’s inflation level has been 6.6%. Even though, the level of the inflation has fallen, the loan policy rates remain high. The Bank of Mongolia said that it is not available to reduce the policy rates in order not to prevent the budget deficit rising further. If the Bank of Mongolia can keep inflation at 7%, the inflation level for the period 2017-2018 is expected to remain at 5%-7%.
