According to a forecast by the Ministry of Agriculture, the total number of livestock in Mongolia reached 70.6 million in the first half of 2015. Currently, Mongolia is working on quarantine agreements with Russia, China, Japan, Kazakhstan, Vietnam and Arab countries to export the meat. As the result, the China Inspection and Quarantine Services have provided export permission to five Mongolian factories. The Government plans to export 5.6 million head of cattle, and use 10.4 million for domestic meat usage; it is forecast that the cost of the meat from livestock slaughtered in Mongolia will be MNT 180 billion.
