“Bayanzurkh Partnership -2015” Economic Forum

This year marks the the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Ulaanbaatar’s Bayanzurkh District. As part of the anniversary the Bayanzurkh District Investment and Construction Center organized the “Bayanzurkh Partnership -2015” Economical Forum, which took place on 17thSeptember, the main topic of the was that of Public-Private-Partnerships (PPPs) as an instrument of economic growth.

During the forum, Dr Ts.Khashchuluun(PhD  economics), M.Sarandavaa, the Deputy CEO of the Mongolian National Chamber of  Commerce (MNCC), Pak Jin Pyo, the Deputy Governor of the Dong-gu District of the S.Korean city of Incheon, Mr. RizakShandor, General Director of Magyar Trade House Co., Ltd and representative of the Hungarian National Chamber of Commerce, and MrKoji Suzuki, who is project manager at the Euro-Khan Company made speeches and presentations to the 300 visitors. The participants exchanged their view under the themes: “Mongolian Macro Economics – Constant Policy”, “Partnership between Government and Private Sector- Investment Conditions”, and “South Korean Experience in partnership between Government and Private Sector”.

Dr Khashchuluun’s presentation focused on the fact that many PPP projects can obtain concessional funding, for example those in the fields of mining, infrastructure development and alternative energy. This is clearly an incentive for the establishment of PPP’s.

Mr Sarandavaa stressed the importance of ensure on-going Public Private Dialogue (PPD), saying it is essential to create a sustainable framework for the implementation of the numerous projects stemming from thePartnerships. Other speakers, such as S.Bekhbat, looked at the methodology of establishing PPP’s.

The Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce has told NEWS.MN, which as a result of the conference the “Bayanzurkh Partnership” will establish, a Public Private Dialogue Council, which will operate in cooperation with the MNCC, international donors and private sector organisations. The MNCC confirms that this council will be set up later this week.
