The Bank of Mongolia has informed that, as of July 2015, the balance of the country’s external debt came to USD 21.6 billion. This figure was a 3.7% increase on July 2015 and can be explained by the increase in debt in the private sector and with commercial banks. To break the external debt down; the two main divisions are; 17.2% belongs to the Government; 48.5% is a result of inter-company loans. The “External Debt Statistics” issued by the Bank of Mongolia note that “there are no outstanding and overdue debts with the Mongolian Government, the Bank of Mongolia, the Commercial Banks nor with Companies”.
