Perturbed by frequent cases where mining companies are not doing enough environmental restoration work, the Ministry for Nature, Environment and Tourism has decided to ask miners to deposit 50 percent of the amount earmarked for such restoration in advance every year. The money will be kept in a special account.

Environmental inspectors will later monitor how the funds are used.
