Yesterday the new version of the “Traffic Law” came into force. This law is cracking down on bad and irresponsible drivers. It would appear that on the first day of the implementation of the new law the number of drunk drivers decreased immediately. For example, before yesterday, between 90 and 150 drunk drivers were detained on the streets of Ulaanbaatar; yesterday, this number had fallen to 40! On the basis of these statistics, officials assume that traffic accidents will decrease by 60%.
