Yesterday, Prime Minister Ch.Saikhanbileg made an unexpected visit to “Chinggis Khaan” airport to see the work in progress for widening the transit and arrival halls and other improvements in advance of the “ASEM-2016” meeting. This was a sudden and unannounced visit. The Prime Minister was accompanied by Ulaanbaatar City Mayor E.Bat-Uul.

Mayor Bat-Uul said: “The fact that the passengers are being checked and x-rayed at border line upon arrival is not compatible with international best practice”. Therefore, the Prime Minister authorized the relevant officials to solve this problem, in order to enable passengers to travel smoothly and without hassle.

The total cost of the repair and extension works is MNT 20.7 billion; the completion date will be the 30^th September.
