“Father’s Day” was initiated on 8thAugust 2005 by the “Mongolian Men’s Federation” (MMF) in order initiated improve men’s pride and self respect; it has been held annually since. According to MMF research, there are many men who are divorced, un-employed, depressed, suffering from illnesses and alcoholism in Mongolia. The statistics are as follows:
-80% of the disabled people are the men
-90% of the occupational disease patients are men
– 60% of the suicide victims are men
-62.2% of the all deaths are men
-39.5% of university students are men
-90%-92% of the people living abroad are men
– also four-times more men are involved in car accidents than women
-the average life expectancy for men is 64; women is 74.3 years. All countries have a difference of average life expectancy between men and women; in Mongolia, however, the average life expectancy difference is 2.5 times more than world average.
