According to a report on 25th July, the water level of some Mongolian rivers is dangerously high. Top of the list is the confluence of the River Orkhon and the Selenge, where the level of the former has increased by 15-40 centimeters. The River Selenge in Sukhbaatar soum is currently 60 centimeters higher than average; such an event has not happened for many years. Also, in the Orkhon soum (Selenge Province) the same river is 10 centimeters above the “flood danger level”. Therefore, the Hydrology Department of the Mongolian Meteorology Institute is warning people, who live work and travel in the vicinity of the Orkhon and Selenge to beware of the flood danger.
