Mongolia currently stands at 89th place out of 140 countries for the percentage of female members in Parliament. Currently only 14.9% of Mongolian members of parliament are women. Although, Mongolia is pursuing a target of 30% female membership of parliament, the current situation is not showing much sign of improvement. According to UNDP’s regional gender leader for the Asia-Pacific Region, Ms. Koh Miyaoi’: “Mongolia has sufficient potential to increase the number of female members to at least 20% in the 2016 Parliament Election. Currently, Rwanda is leads the 140 country survey with the 63% of all 80 parliamentary seats being occupied by women. Rwanda, if followed by Bolivia and Cuba, both of which have large numbers of female law-makers. The Sudan and Yemen are at are in the bottom two places”.
