Buddgist monasteries in Mongolia are going to organize the “Danshig Naadam”, in order to celebrate the 380th anniversary of the birth of Zanabazar. This will take place on 8th-9th August. The City Administration is planning to organize several events, for example: the musical, “Saran Khukhuu” an exhibition of Zanabazar creations and life at the “Khui Doloon Khudag” and the big touring exhibition. “Khuree Tsam” dancers will also perform traditional religious dances. It can be noted that many people are pressing for the “Khuree Tsam” dance to be included onto the UNESCO culture heritage list.
Zanabazar (1635-1732) was the first Jebtsundamba Khutuktu, the spiritual head of Tibetan Buddhism for the Khalkh Mongols in Mongolia. He was also the greatest artist the country has produced, creating many beautiful Buddhist statues. He is also famed with creating the “Soyombo” – Mongolia’s national symbol.
