Exports have declined 4.5% on the figures for June 2014. Natural resource exports, which account for the bulk of the country’s exports, fell by 4%. For example, Mongolia exported 6.9 million tons of coal in the first half of 2015 for USD 310 million, which means the total price has reduced by 31%; coal 2.5 million tons comparing to 2014. Also, Chinese imports fell by 34%.
The second reason for the reduction in export is the current fall in international crude oil prices. Mongolia exported 3.2 million tons of crude oil for USD 320 million last year. Therefore, the volume remains unchanged but total export revenue has fallen by USD 123 million, in other words, 39%.
