On 17th July 2015, Mongolian Foreign Minister  L.Purevsuren met U.S. Congressman Mr. Peter Roskam. During the meeting, Mr. Purevsuren noted that: “Mongolia is in the process of successfully transferring to the market system by democratic means. We are very glad to the government and people of the USA for their support to the choice of the people of Mongolian, from the very outset. It is good to let you know, that this year is the 25th anniversary of democracy in Mongolia. In addition, the inter-parliamentary relationships are deepening as time goes by. We appreciate the program “Partners in Democracy” and the benefits that this close relation between our two countries has brought about. I sincerely hope that our co-operation will develop and deepen even further.”

Congressman Roskam said: “I am very thankful for this meeting. We are always glad to work with Mongolia and are ready to give support in whatever way we can in order to forward our co-operation.”

Peter Roskam is a Republican Congressman from Illinois and is Chairman of the Partnership Program for Democracy (PPD). The PPD is a working group originally set up in 1990 to provide support to legislative bodies in East and Central European Countries. The geographic range has been expanded; Mongolia joined the program in 2006.  Currently the PPD assists 16 countries.
