Parliament has approved a new version of the “Traffic Safety Law” which will come into force from 1st of September. Here is a list of the various additions:
- A person who drives a vehicle when under the influence of alcohol, or psychotropic drugs etc for the first time will be fined twice the minimum wage (MNT 384,000) and will be banned from driving for a certain amount of time.
- The person, who repeatedly drives a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, or when banned from driving will be fined four times the minimum (MNT 768,000).
- If the vehicle owner has allowed someone under the influence of alcohol, or psychotropic drug to drive, the owner will be fined MNT 96,100.
- Anyone who drives a vehicle without driver’s license will be fined MNT 48000; and the owner of the vehicle MNT 19200
- Anyone who uses a cell phone or using a social network when driving will be fined MNT 9000.
- Anyone who drives in the wrong lane will be penalized for MNT 96000.
- Anyone who puts a light signal bar on a car illegally will be fined MNT 96000.
- Anyone who jumps traffic lights will be fined MNT 19200.
- The driver who makes a wrong turn light at a cross-roads, thereby misguiding other drivers will be fined MNT 19200
- Anyone who did not make way for an ambulance, police car, fire engine etc aids, will be fined MNT 19200.
