“The Return of the Wild Horses” is a project run by Prague Zoo and the Czech Development Agency to send wild horses to Mongolia. The project has just sent four wild horses back to Mongolia. Previously, in framework of this project, four wild horses were delivered in 2011, 2012, and 2013 to Mongolia and a further three in 2014. The director of Prague Zoo Miroslav Bobek gave information to “Prague Post” that – It is not possible to transport wild horses during the night time because it is harmful to the animal’s biorhythm of this animal is not suitable. After transportation these wild horses are being located in Bulgan Aimag. So far we have sent 15 horses in total, one animal, however died en route so, to date we have delivered 14 wild-horses to Mongolia. These animals have already given birth to eight foals.
It is been about 20 years since the Mongolian Wild Horses first “returned” to its native land. The Wild Horse is a progenitor of an animal known as Przewalski’s Horse. In 1800, scientists assumed that wild horses are endangered and close to extinction. Today, there are approximately 400 wild horses living in the Mongolian steppe.
