There are 16 cultural events planned for the Naadam celebrations this year. These will run from 1st to the 15th of July. One of them is the famous Mongolian opera “Uchirtai Gurvan Tolgoi” which will be performed on Chinggis Square on 10th July in at 21.00 pm. Under “Ulaanbaatar Welcomes You” program, the State Song and Dance Ensemble and the City Authority have selected the main roles. In total, 13 singers were shortlisted for the four main parts: Yunden, Nansalmaa, Balgan and Khorolmaa. As a result, Mongolian Honorary Artist E.Amartuvshin has been chosen for Yunden, Mongolian Leading Artist Sh.Naranchimeg for Nansalmaa, J.Byambajav for Balgan, and Mongolian Honorary Artist S.Munguntsetseg for Khorolmaa. The City Authority will award each of them MNT 10 million.
It can be noted that this year is the 65th Anniversary of the first performance of “Uchirtai Gurvan Tolgoi”. The opera was written by B.Damdinsuren and was based on an earlier musical play by D.Natsagdorj.
