Minister of Foreign Affairs L.Purevsuren and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Mongolia from Japan Takenori Shimizu have signed a memorandum between the Mongolian and Japanese governments to implement a project to build a training hospital. The hospital will be built with grant aid of 4.1 billion MNT from the Japanese government.
Supporters of the project believe that the nation's first training hospital will help prepare qualified professionals for the medical sector in Mongolia and improve medical services. Training provided by the hospital will assist in building the fundamentals for providing a quality medical education in Mongolia. Industry analysts say that it is important for the improvement of medical services to be provided by the government.
In addition to the training hospital, talks were also held to enroll 18 Mongolian civil servants in a Japanese human resources development program to pursue master's degrees at Japanese universities and institutes
The scholarship program is aimed to maintaining the human resources of countries that have shifted to a market economy, aimed to support talented young civil servants by giving them the opportunity to study in Japan.
The program began in 1999 and scholarships have been given to state servants from 11 countries, including Mongolia, Indonesia, the Philippines, China, Laos, Uzbekistan, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
