Analysts have said that the MNT exchange rate against the USD is continuously increasing for the last three months. The exchange rate of USD, which reached 2,000 MNT in March, has decreased steadily, and as of today, the rate decreased by 54 MNT.
Currently, the exchange rate at the Naiman Sharga currency exchange market is 1,946 MNT, and at commercial banks the rate is 1,958 to 1,960 MNT.
There are reports that next week 500 million USD will be injected into the Mongolian economy through an arrangement with Trade and Development Bank of Mongolia and the issuing of 500 million USD in bonds.
The nation's foreign currency reserves at Mongol Bank are now 1.3 billion USD. The addition of 500 million USD will positively impact the currency exchange rate.
Analysts are watching with cautious optimism, but remind the public and the state that efforts should continue to revive a steady flow of foreign investment to stabilize the economy.
