At the 22nd meeting of the working group of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations, which was held yesterday in Geneva, Switzerland, the Mongolian government presented its human rights policies for evaluation by the U.N.
Most of the countries participating in the meeting said they appreciated Mongolia’s effort put forth in implementing recommendations given in initial discussions with the Human Rights Council of the U.N., and recommended strengthening success in the future and intensifying legal reforms.
Representatives of 68 member countries of the United Nations. nearly double the amount of countries that participated in last year's review, raised several important issues: ending the death penalty; fighting human trafficking; addressing domestic violence; securing the right for Mongolians to freely express viewpoints and to live in a healthy and secure environment; ensuring gender equality; protecting children’s rights; eliminating child labor; protect the rights of minors, young people, women, and people with disabilities; providing human rights education at all levels, especially to civil servants; impose liability for human rights violations.
